IMAGES CHOSEN FOR SKELLIGS DARK SKY FESTIVAL

DECEMBER 2022: POTENTIAL ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY EVENTS

CHECK OUR OUR NEW

2023 Calendar

Thanks everyone for all the great images you’ve been publishing over the last year. In particular thanks for putting a lot of those images forward for this years calendar. In choosing which images to include Brendan Kinch and I (Tom Dinneen) wanted to be as diverse as possible and include at least one image from each discipline. It was also great to see such diversity across all the group. This year in particular we’ve seen a very healthy growth in the overall standard of the group. That’s across the board from beginners to more experienced members. Looking forward to seeing everyone continue to grow into 2023 and beyond.  Keep up the great work.

A big thanks to Marty McCormack for putting this calendar together. A lot of hard work went into it. Also a big congratulations to all those who made it into the calendar. We all know how much effort goes into it.

You can order the calendar over at Horizon Astronomy https://www.horizonastronomy.ie/.../astrophotography.... It’s €10 a calendar and shipping is €2.60 via An Post if you in Ireland and I think it’s €8.50 if outside.

WINNERS OF THE OUT OF THIS WORLD DIAS COMPETITION:

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Tom Dineen and Raluca Dana Lica claimed first prize in the ‘Out of this World’ category. This category called for images depicting scenes or elements of astronomical interest such as deep space images or images of the solar system. Their winning image ‘A Fiery Rosette’ captured the Rosette Nebula – an emission nebula in the constellation of Monoceros, located about 5,200 light-years away from Earth. The image data was captured by Raluca in her backyard in Naas town, Co. Kildare, over 11 nights, with Tom completing the image processing.
